Outgoing email can't be generated if it contains non-ASCII characters

The process of converting an email to text crashes if the text contains non-ASCII characters. In real life this happens most commonly because of copy-and-paste errors in a library's name, but it's realistic for a library name to actually contain non-ASCII characters, and this shouldn't cause a crash.
