I've gotten three reports from Ask NYPL of patrons on iOS unable to open children's titles delivered through Axis 360.It's possible that the problem also affects Android and we haven't heard about it yet.

      The three reports:

      1. "Mr. Putter & Tabby Stir the Soup"

      The pages are not turning

(All copies of that title are on loan, but we have two other books in the series: "Mr. Putter & Tabby Turn the Page" and "Mr. Putter & Tabby Make a Wish." )

      2. "Big Bad Ironclad!" and "The Underground Abductor"

I could not flip through the pages of the e-book. Most of the time, it was stuck on the cover and on rare occasions the chapter selection option would appear. I could jump to the dedication or the copyright page. But I could not read the rest of the e-book.

      3. "Big Nate in a Class by Himself" and "Big Nate Goes for Broke"

In this case the book won't even open. Instead the patron clicks "get" and sees a spinner that never clears.

Since NYPL just bought a lot of Axis 360 titles, it's likely that this problem has been around for a while and just became more salient.

If you're wondering "why doesn't this problem happen on Open eBooks", the answer might be that it did, and we removed the (donated) titles from the collection rather than devote resources to investivate the problem.
