When using “Voice Over” swiping left or right with 1 finger navigates to adjacent text blocks instead of the normal functionality of switching pages. 

When swiping left or right with 3 fingers the page does change up or down but it is only possible to do this gesture when the “Voice Over” cursor is either on the page heading (the title of the book) or the footer with the current page.
