The current behavior: as an admin in the circulation manager, when you go into "system configuration" and create or edit an item–e.g. a library, a collection, a metadata service configuration, a logging services configuration, etc.–and click "save," there is nothing (other than the lack of error message) to immediately and explicitly confirm that the action has been successful.

Proposed improvement:  1) add an alert saying something along the lines of "your changes have been saved," and/or 2) automatically redirect to the list of all of the items of this type, so that you can see that your new item is on the list.

      SUCCESS CRITERIA:

      I. If the admin creates something where more than one can be created (e.g. collections, libraries, admins), the interface:

      1. displays a success message containing a link to the edit form for the new thing ("You have                    successfully created a new <type of thing>"), and
      2. clears the form so that the admin can create another new thing.  Clearing the form means  that:
      • input fields with default values–i.e. inputs that were already visibly filled in, checked, etc. when the admin initially went to the create form--return to displaying their default values (they shouldn't be blank), and
      • input fields that started out blank and which the admin filled in return to being blank.

II. If the admin creates something of which only one can be created, the interface

      1. displays a success message containing a link to the edit form for the new thing, and
      2. redirects to the list of things in that category (i.e. goes back to the previous page).

III. If the admin edits something, the interface displays a success message ("You have successfully edited this <type of thing>").  There should not be any links in the success message, and the form should not be cleared.

IV. When the admin submits a form, the interface automatically scrolls to the top of the page; this is so that the admin will be able to see the success (or error) message, even if the form is very long.  The best example of this is the library form.
