Prior to the recent pandemic, NYPL cards for children and teens could only be acquired by parents going to a branch or applying through the child’s school, using paper applications. In our new system we want parents to be able to acquire cards for their children via our SimplyE App, to support both families and library staff alike. This will allow parents to offer books to their families without having to negotiate the 3 checkouts per patron across multiple children.

Because of COVID we’re expediting this project in the native codebase for SimplyE, so that we don’t have to wait for the web-based card creator project to complete before we can support adults creating cards for their children.
