People (and corporations) have a lot of extremely complicated display names, but most of the books in our collection are by people with relatively simple sort names.

We can't in general convert a sort name to a display name, but we can check whether a sort name seems to fit one of a couple common cases, and if a VIAF lookup fails for such an author we can do an automatic conversion which is likely to be correct.
